I'm officially back in Montreal, Canada! Feels real good especially after the crazy driving and traveling in the last week in Europe!

Landed in Montreal Trudeau on Wednesday, November 12. On my way out the airport, I declared my return to Canada to the Canadian customs... More paper work and I was finally out. I had a lot of trouble with the jet lag this time! I couldn't sleep properly for the first week and I had an important job interview on Friday morning! Luckily it went very well and I'll probably get the job! Excellent salary too! ;-)

I'm settling quickly here, already have an apartment, a car and probably a job! You gotta love the internet and communications! It would have been impossible otherwise. Living at my sister's in Montreal and I'm hoping to move into my apartment in Montreal Angrignon asap! My french girlfriend is coming to Montreal on January 13rd 2009, enough time to get her visa so she can work in Montreal. I'm definitely for equality in sexes so my woman should also work at a job.  :-)

Democrat Barack Obama has won the U.S. presidential election at the expense of Republican John McCain, becoming the first black president in the history of the United States.

Obama, 47 years, will be invested the 44th U.S. president on January 20 2009.

By winning California, the senator from Illinois was assured of exceeding the threshold of 270 electors necessary to obtain a majority in the electoral college that will elect the next president of the United States. He also won the popular vote.

Scenes of jubilation welcomed the announcement of victory for Obama across the country, particularly in its stronghold of Chicago, where tens of thousands of people have taken heart the slogan of the candidate mestizo: "Yes, we can".

An average of 932km per day! Ouch!

2,556km driving, 311km by Train and 5524km by Plane! I'm moving back to Montreal so I need to get some of my stuff, prepare my trip back home and say goodbye to my family.

I live with my girlfriend in Etaples in the north of France but my stuff is at my mother's place in the south of France near Toulouse.

On Monday I drove 930km – about 9 hours straight. Two days in the south and Thursday I'm going back to my girlfriend's in Etaples so that's another 930km and 9 hours of driving in France. Friday I rented a small truck in Etaples to transport all my boxes to Le Havre, the port where the boat departs for Montreal. With return, that's 440km and about 4 hours of driving. Then I spend my last weekend in 2008 with my girlfriend before I leave to Brussels to see my family on Monday, 262km – about 2 hours 30 mins. Wednesday morning, I'm taking the Thalys TGV train from Brussels to Paris to catch my plane which departs at 12h25! 311km – about 1h30 hours. I hope I don't miss it! And finally the big trip by plane, Paris to Montreal, 5524km and 7 hours flight. Friday I have an important interview for a job as a Online Marketing Manager in Montreal! Ouch!

That's a total of 8,391 km – about 36 hours of traveling in 9 days!

What better place than my blog so I also let everyone else know about this small Google Analytics tracking Tip.

I wanted to precisely track my sidebar outgoing clicks so when I go into my Google Analytics interface I can see how many people have clicked on any link within my sidebar. To do this, you have to manually add a small code on each link.

Append this code on each link you want to track :

<a href="http://www.example.com" onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/example.com');">

Note : There is a space between javascript: and pageTracker

Log your links into an logical directory structure!

In the example, the directory structure is /outgoing/example.com but on my blog I have done it differently.

For all the links on my sidebar, I have used the directory structure /internallinks/sidebar/nameofthelink

For the links in my header, I have used the directory structure /internallinks/header/nameofthelink

For my footer /internallinks/footer/nameofthelink

In Google Analytics, you will find the results after 24-48 hours inside the CONTENT menu and by clicking on CONTENT DRILLDOWN

Warning! If you manually track clicks by using this code, Google Analytics will count each click as an extra pageview! This will inflate your pageview statistics so you might want to create a filter to remove those additional pageviews from your general Google Analytics statistics. See how Here.

Some of these cat paintings have cost $15,000 and had to be renewed every 3 months! Some cat owners are really crazy about their cats! I'm not sure these poor cats really enjoyed the long hours of painting on their fur. The results are pretty amazing! Some cat painting are very simple with a unique color, others are very complex and required a true artist, like painting on a canvas. These cats are ready for Halloween!

Most of the tree leafs have fallen to the ground. Looking for a cool photo project? Then go out to the forest with a friend and a camera and take some great pictures of you throwing leafs into the air and jumping into the leafs. The contrast between the falling leafs and your jumping body is truly great and will make some nice artistic photos.

It's hard to take the picture at the right moment. Wait until your friend's body is well into the air and the leafs have started to fall. Take many shots and choose your favorite, then send me your pictures and I'll post them on this page for everyone to see! ;-)

Xarj's Music Remix of Pink Floyd's The Great Gig in the Sky

For my Pink Floyd music remix, I cut out the short piano loop at the very beginning of their song "The Great Gig in the Sky" on the album "Dark Side of the Moon". With this loop, I then built upon it using my favorite music creation software, Acid Pro. Obviously my song has nothing to do with the original music, I just loved that early piano sound and thought it would be inspiring to start a song with. If you create loop based music, you can download the Pink Floyd loop on my Popular Loops Page.

I recorded my Pink Floyd remix on March 23, 2004 and is part of my CD #32.
